The Rascher Quartet is proud to welcome our newest member, Andreas van Zoelen into our musical family! Andreas will be taking over the RSQ’s tenor position, which has been so ably manned by our dearest colleague and friend Bruce Weinberger, who is retiring after a very successful and fruitful forty five years!
ラッシャー四重奏団はこのたび、Andreas van Zoelenを新たな音楽の仲間として迎え入れます。Andreasは、Bruce Weinbergerの後任としてテナーを担当します。Bruceは、私達の素晴らしい仲間であり、45年という歴史の中で多くの成功と結実に満ちた活動を展開しましたが、このたび引退となります。
During his time with the RSQ, Bruce has performed world premieres of well over 375 works from composers of note such as Sofia Gubaidulina, Iannis Xenakis, Luciano Berio, Philip Glass, Kalevi Aho, Steven Stucky, Lera Auerbach, Brett Dean, Giya Kantcheli and Mauricio Kagel. The influential role that Bruce played in the development of this wonderful repertoire should be highly valued and never overlooked by the saxophone and music community!!! As a result of his brilliant musicianship, artistic vision, tenacity and wisdom, the saxophone world is a better and musically richer place than it was forty five years ago. Every saxophonist should join us in honoring Bruce’s musical career and contributions, as well as offering him a gigantic collective “THANK YOU”!!!
ブルースは、ラッシャー四重奏団の活動を続ける中で、375以上の作品を初演しました。それらの新作の作曲家としては、ソフィア・グバイドゥーリナ、ヤニス・クセナキス、ルチアーノ・ベリオ、フィリップ・グラス、カレヴィ・アホ、スティーヴン・スタッキー、レラ・オールバッハ、ブレット・ディーン、ギヤ・カンチェリ、マウリシオ・カーゲルといった名前が挙げられます。この素晴らしいレパートリーを発展させる中で、ブルースが演じた影響力の大きい役割は、大きい価値があり、サクソフォン界やその他音楽コミュニティから見過ごされるべきものではありません。この輝ける楽才（Musicianship）、芸術家としての洞察力（Artistic Vision）、不屈の精神（Tenacity）、良識（Wisdom）の結果として、サクソフォン界は45年前に比べて、音楽的に豊かになりました。すべてのサクソフォン奏者は、ブルースの音楽的キャリアと貢献を讃え、"THANK YOU"と感謝すべきです。
Finding the right person to do honor to Bruce’s spirit and position was not to be taken lightly, and we are utterly thrilled, excited and honored to have Andreas van Zoelen share his formidable musical abilities with the Rascher Quartet!! Andreas has been a loved and valued member of the Rascher Saxophone Orchestra almost from the beginning, and the professional and musical spirit that he brings to that ensemble is both esteemed and cherished! Along with maintaining a very active performing, conducting and composing schedule, Andreas is also Professor for Saxophone at the Fontys Conservatory in Tilburg, Netherlands where he maintains a very successful studio comprised of many talented international students. Andreas has recently authored a book about the development of the classical saxophone in the Netherlands.

Yes, a wonderful era is coming to a close, yet the tradition continues to develop and thrive! To Bruce, we cannot overemphasize what an honor it has been to be your colleagues! As is the case with Mr. Rascher, John Kelly, Linda Bangs, Harry White, Carina Rascher and now you, we shall endeavor to do honor to this rich and wonderful musical tradition, and will continue to be led by the examples of your wisdom, artistry and spirit!!
