The Garden of Love

YouTubeは、最近サックス的興味からしても面白いムービーがアップされていて楽しい。いろいろ検索していたら、なんとヤコブ＝テル・フェルドハウス Jacob ter Veldhuisの「The Garden of Love」を発見（笑）。ソプラノ・サクソフォンとテープのための作品で、「Grab It!」の躍動感をそのままに、全体を総天然色に染め上げたような、不思議な響きのする作品。脳みそに直接来るようなある種のアブナさも感じ…あー、これは聴き続けるとヤバイ。

曲想顔負けの真っ赤な衣装で演奏するのは、ボーンカンプの弟子でもある、ティエス・メレマ Ties Mellema氏（めちゃくちゃ上手い！）。ドイツのテレビ局の、放送用録画だそうな。どうやらメレマのマネージャーが、プロモーション目的でアップロードしたようで、つまりは演奏者公認。メレマのページ（→http://www.tiesmellema.nl/）からYouTubeへのリンクも張られていた。

冒頭に読まれ、曲中にもサンプリングされて使われているのは、18～19世紀イギリスの詩人、ウィリアム・ブレイクの詩「The Garden of Love」。なかなかに美しく、読み応えがある。以下に全文を引用しておきます。

And saw what I never had seen:
A Chapel was built in the midst,
Where I used to play on the green.

And the gates of this Chapel were shut,
And "Thou shalt not" writ over the door;
